"Pitter Patter" 1

Using cyan and prussian blue for the background land and sea, I turned then to stippling white over the tree limbs and such, then layered scarlet over those, giving forth the blossoms...  and it looked good enough that I think nothing further needed as per sky...

for those interested, these are the nibs being used...

And the rest of the grasses are laid in, thus, for the moment at least, ending doing the background view beyond the curtains...

"Pitter Patter" WIP

The basic sketch, from which will freehand  do on the acid free 8"x40" foam board...

and have begun the landscape part, using sepia for the tree and light green for the grasses...  will do the sky next, as well as the distant background, then get on to putting in the blossoms...

a close-up, showing the detail of the grasses...  the tree will, once the sky and background is in, be crisped and firmed - then the blossoms...

Going ahead and doing the grisaille of the carafe, and is taking just a wee longer than I had anticipated, especially since am trying to keep it relatively smooth - maybe a couple more days and it'll be done, then the dragon to go on it...  and then coloring the two...

What, Then, Makes for Important?

If it is the unimportant that is omitted from a painting, what, then, makes for being important - enough at least to then include within a work of art?   Consider, for instance, the just finished rendering - Crafting Creation...

Is there anything which ought to be there that is missing?  why is it ought? why is its absence detracting from the theme/title if it is really an ought?

Is the cup really necessary?

Are the number of beans sufficient, or is more needed - or less? Why? why were the beans included - would the rendering be any less of substance if not there?

What of colors - what if had everything, except the grinder and beans, of a red earth color?  would it have made a difference? why?

The cabinet doors - why both closed? what difference if one was ajar? which one? why? what if had done no doors, but open shelves?

Would it had made any difference if the drawer was open, or the grinder handle turned a different direction? why?
