"Improvisation" - 14

And the issue of what roadkill to use is now revealed - it is 'roadkill' from a store...
So - the question remains - why not the other, more expected or usual?  to begin with, consider the theme/title, and context it with my known sense of life...  if I were most any other artist, there's be nothing odd of using a pigeon, or rat, or even a puppy as roadkill examples, because it would almost had been expected - for an ordinary person, those WOULD be typical roadkill...  but as all objects used in a work of art are, by the fact they are included, symbolic of particular importances [otherwise, why bother putting them in], even if the reason of the importance is not consciously articulated [ it is in the nature of composing a world of art]...   what, then, is being said if a pigeon was used, or including a rat as well - what sense of life is thus being portrayed - and further, what such if considering a puppy to use [and dog meat, for many in the Far East, is a delicacy, tasty, and when used in stew, makes for a delicious nutritious meal]?

So, then - what difference is being emphasized when using a packaged meat as the protein?  it is, after all, since one needs be 'on the road' to get it, a form of 'roadkill'?  further, how does this more fit into the theme/title, as opposed to the traditional roadkill?  an improvement? or just different?
And further work on the canister........

"Improvisation" - 13

In detailing the canister, am showing an 'in progress' photo, where is seen the texturing of the side and the pen/nib being used for this.......

Improvisation and its Theming

Most know my works involve theming - indeed, it is the prime importance in fine art rendering, and conscious theming is the prime importance in theming...   but - what is it in Improvisation which is worth the effort of rendering?  what metaphysical symbolism is involved - especially in the various proposed roadkill, the means of providing meat to the soup?   what difference would it make to have, say,  just one item - the plucked chicken perhaps - instead of several, like a pigeon, rat, and puppy? or a hare?  or is there any difference other than perspective of likelihood in reality regarding roadkill?  would anything else of likelihood be used as the meat provider without involving roadkill?

What is it of importance that involves rendering an Improvisation in the first place?   what sense of life is seen in it, and if not a positive one, why?  what is being said of, say, individualism - or of community - of self responsibility - of independence? or is anything being said of these - and if not, why not?   is it too early to speculate - and what might be added to alter the speculation?

And - perhaps in this Society blog the most important of all - why do this rendering in pen and ink, and as a b/w in particular?  what does so doing say, from a fundamental standpoint that would distinguish this  from being rendered in another medium?

"Improvisation" - 11

And the back wall is now done... now to concentrate on the rest...

"Improvisation" - 10

Almost across the background wall...   then will spend time working out the roadkill section...

"Improvisation" - 9

Further along the back...  and am thinking maybe not need do the canister as glass, but perhaps a ceramic [still with a wood top, tho]...

"Improvisation" - 8

Working my way across the top, doing the background wall, while keeping in mind ideas for dealing with the roadkill yet to be entered next to the pot...

"Improvisation" - 7

Have finished the detailing of that part of the crate, and am now on the background wall, getting in the first layering of the darkness, which is already providing some good contrast...  the glass container will be last, as have to think more on it to getting the shines and reflections right - remember, this is all out of my head, so there is needed a period of mentally 'seeing' the work into sharp focus, then trying to get it down on the canvas...

[and yes, the photo 'curves' as is a close-up and at a bit of an angle, as the drafting table is a wee too high to get a better position]

"Improvisation" - 6

Managed to get a wee bit more than usual done today, tho this is just the laying in - polishing this will come later, after all is laid in...

Detailing the wood..........

Finally another Pen and Ink and lots of Fur

Sorry I haven't been around much lately everyone. Just been busy with life but now I am back to my Art. . . and
..I decided to put my Art table back up and un pack some of my Art supplies, as I really want to paint again. This time I figured I would do something fun, how about an Icelandic Unicorn?!
Took a interesting photo of Dyfra not too long ago and am going to use her as a reference.
Will use my Pen and Ink and a bit of watercolor wash. I plan on inking in each hair on the Icelandic, so this piece might take awhile.
Ya, I am doing more fur again.... but I feel really rusty, or could that be because all the rain we have been having lately? LOL

Starting to apply the first layer of Ink.

Continuing with the first layer of Ink and adding some Shading to this piece. I have asked myself this question and I would love to hear from all of you.
Should I continue this piece as a golden horned Unicorn or should I just make it a cantering Icelandic playing in the snow?
You see, I am at a toss up but need to make a decision soon.
More to come...

"Improvisation" - 2

Had to get the sketch and re-transfer, as the bottom of the pot had been forgotten...  so, now on with getting the bowl of the pot done, using the large nib...

and here is the rest of the shading, essentially...  next is the bottom...
